Medals for Everyday Heroes

Why are medals given only to talented sportsmen or powerful men in society?  What about ordinary people who lead simple lives but also show acts of bravery, courage and compassion towards themselves and others – do they not deserve medals?

Inger Margrethe Larsen’s questions bring a smile on our lips and also make us think.

“Medals for Everyday Heroes” features a series of ’ordinary’ protagonists from different countries wearing one of Inger's designed medals along with their personal statements. Laced with wit, insight, curiosity and cheerfulness, Inger’s show brings to light some aspects of their unique and often exceptional lives.

Inger Margrethe Larsen designs medals for wall decoration: medals which by their shape and size, twist and simplify the medal concept. The material of the medals consists mainly of plastic, deliberately chosen to avoid the traditional ranking of medals in gold, silver and bronze. The video gives a glimpse of the design and manufacturing process.
